Experiencing the Dream

Year 10s begin work experience week

By Precious Oladele, Year 10

This week, Year 10 are all on work experience.  This is an opportunity for academy students to experience our dream job.

My dream is to write and I want to report the news, interview people and personalities, and keep everyone informed about what is happening in the world.  My dream is to become a writer, journalist or editor.  My work experience placement is here at Salford City Academy and I am working with the Marketing Department, shadowing Mrs Quinn, the academy’s Marketing Assistant.

Work experience is important to have the opportunity to weigh up your options and help in your further education and career decisions.  By the end of this week, for some the opportunity will confirm their future plans, for others they may choose to explore other opportunities.  But the point is to make the most of our week in the working world.

Other Year 10 students are in their work experience placements including hairdressing salons, nursery/primary/secondary schools, vets and plumbers to name a few!

Mrs Quinn, Marketing Assistant said:

“I would love to inspire Precious in her writing and reporting dreams.  Precious has already impressed me with her excellent attitude and enthusiasm for her placement. Look out for more articles from Precious throughout the week.”
