Summer School 2014

Salford City Academy held an extremely successful Summer School over the summer break, providing new students with an opportunity to enhance their learning, make new friends and get to know the academy before starting Year 7.

The first week of the Summer School programme focused on Literacy, while the second week aimed to improve students’ Maths skills. Students also enjoyed Science and Art lessons, with the entire 2 weeks having a “Brazil World Cup” theme.

By the end of the scheme, pupils had produced some fantastic work including rainforest-themed board games, a football kit made in Science lessons and beautiful carnival-inspired masks in Art.

On the final day of the Summer School, pupils attended a trip to the Chill Factore to take part in winter sports, before having a presentation for students and their family members. Prizes were awarded for excellent work in each of the subjects, with Mollie Finney winning an iPad for her consistently outstanding effort and achievement during the programme.

Transition Mentor Miss Hutton said:

“Well done to all the students who made SCA Summer School such a success. It was fantastic to see pupils building relationships with those from other schools, engaging in lessons and preparing for academy life.”
