United Learning Visit

Chair of the Group Board of United Learning visits Salford City Academy students.

We welcomed Sir Michael Graydon, Chair of the Group Board of United Learning, Mr Richard Greenhalgh, who will be succeeding Sir Michael and Mrs Janet Woods, Director of Academies North on Tuesday 28th April.

Our newly appointed Head, Deputy Head and Senior Prefects greeted our visitors alongside Principal Helen Mackenzie OBE.  Later in the morning, a group of Year 11 students Joe Mort, Ellis Birch, Mel Raynor and Megan Smart, who have undertaken the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, also met with our distinguished guests.

All students spoke with great clarity about their learning, their relationships with staff and their desire to achieve both personally and professionally.  All of them spoke about the Academy and how they now feel that there is stability, quality of teaching and a very positive learning environment.

Following the visit Sir Michael Graydon, Chair of the Group Board of United Learning, said:

“It was a super visit for which many thanks.  Our conversation was very helpful and our time with the students terrific.  They were the best possible advertisement for what has been achieved and you deserve excellent results this year.”

Principal Helen Mackenzie OBE added:

“Without doubt, the students who welcomed our visitors are a credit to the Academy, to their families and most of all to themselves.”
