Charity Bag-Packing

A group of 24 Year 10 students, as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award, volunteered their time on Sunday 20th November to pack bags for customers for Morrisons in Eccles.

The students worked in two shifts of 2.5 hours to help customers and raised £805.46.

All the money raised will be donated to the Eccles Rotary Club's Christmas Day Lunch for elderly residents from the Eccles and Peel Green area who are on their own at Christmas. Everyone is collected and taken to Alexandra House and treated to drinks, a full Christmas dinner, a game of bingo, carol singing and finally a Christmas gift before they leave.

The students were:

Malek Abdo, Katie Aldred, Katherine Bancroft, Daniel Cooper, Elliot Craven, Dominique Curran, Chloe Dawson, Holly Farrell, Melissa Green, Kyle Handley, Natalie Harwood, Elizabeth Jones, Katie Leggott, Faye Lengden, Lucy Lengden, Matthew McMillen, Paige McNorton, Natasha Roebuck, Jordan Southworth, Cameron Thompson, Joshua Walker, Nathan Yates-Price, Kirsty Coates, Louis Edmonds.

Julie Larkinson, Salford City Academy's Community Partnership Co-ordinator and Eccles Rotary Club President said:  "Comments from the customers were so positive about our students. One lady said that they were an absolute delight, so polite, helpful and friendly. They were a credit to the Academy and raised so much money for such a worthwhile cause."
