Students enjoy Hallé for Youth Concert

Year 7 academy students visited the Bridgewater Hall for a special Hallé for Youth Concert on Wednesday 1st March entitled ‘Made in the British Isles’.

Schools from across Greater Manchester performed alongside the Hallé orchestra and all students were invited to sing along to ‘From a Railway Carriage’, a song arranged by the Hallé’s own Steve Pickett and using Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem as its inspiration.

Harley said: “It was good to see how the conductor managed the orchestra. My favourite instrument was the whip.”

George said: “ I’ve never seen an orchestra live before; it was really good and very loud!”

The aim of Hallé Education programme is to firmly establish the Hallé Orchestra as a valuable resource for all members of the community in and around Manchester.

In partnership with teachers, their aim is to enhance the National Curriculum for music and encourage those involved to share the passion and quality of live music in the concert hall.
