Neil Danns Visits Salford City Academy

Neil Danns, British and European Skateboarding Champion, joined the Academy to launch the ON Track to Achieve project.

The selected Year 9 students met with Neil so that he could introduce himself and the scheme’s objectives.

Students began by filling out some evaluation information to identify skills crucial for their success and their own personal aims they’d like to achieve by the end of the scheme.

Neil will then mentor them, set them some individual goals and track their progress throughout.

Next week, Neil will return and set the group a fun challenge to help develop their team building and problem solving skills.

Other activities on the agenda, which will run from March to June, will be a community challenge, one-to-one mentoring, and a chance to visit a skate park with Neil to see him in action and learn some of his sporting skills!

Simon Evans, PE Teacher and Year 9 Leader said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to use Neil’s athlete mentoring to help develop and achieve their own goals, whether that be sporting, personal or academic.”
