Sixth Form Beauty Students visit Buxton University

On Thursday 5th December 2013 a group of Year 12 and 13 students visited Buxton University to see their fantastic spa facilities and look at the courses available and student life at the University.

In the morning the students were given a tour of the university and had a talk about the interesting history of the beautiful Grade 2 listed building. In the afternoon they were taken to the Spa where they had the opportunity to use the facilities and receive a treatment from the students currently studying university courses.

They all enjoyed the use of the pool, the sauna and steam room as well as using some of the facial treatments available and their treatment of choice by the current students.

Miss Anderson, teacher of Hair and Beauty, said:

“The visit was very successful.  All the students were engaged and were positive about the spa management course. Some students said they would now consider going to Buxton University.”

One of the Year 13 students on this visit has had confirmation that she has a place on the Spa Management Course at the University and her decision for this course was made after the visit last year when she was in Year 12.

Abi Jackson, a Year 12 student said:

“I enjoyed the Buxton University trip and it helped show me where I could progress onto if I do my Level 3’s.”
