Testing in School

NOTICE: The following information is now out of date and will be updated accordingly.

As we welcome back our Students from Monday 8th March the Academy will begin Mass testing Students using Lateral Flow Devices in line with Government guidance.

The purpose of the LFD tests in schools is to pick up Asymptomatic cases in staff or students who could be infectious with COVID-19 but displaying none of the symptoms.

Only Students with consent will be tested, consent should come from a Parent or Guardian electronically, you can do this on the link here.

Please complete one form per child that attends the academy. Please complete the form to accept or decline the invite to testing.

Students will receive 3 LFD tests on their return to school, this is to help them practice under supervision on how to self-test. We have trained staff in the academy who will assist your child by verbally advising and encouraging your child on how to correctly swab their tonsils and nostril. Mr Rashud has recorded a video for you to watch which shows you what the testing provision looks like. Click here to view it.

Please note if you have given your consent for your child to be tested and they decline to be tested on the day that they will NOT be made to do the test. We want everybody to be comfortable with the process, if you would like further information about the process or to talk more about it please get in touch with your child’s Year Leader.

Once the initial 3 tests have been completed we will provide your child with home testing kits. More information can be found here on how to home test.

Your result will be sent to you via email and text, however if your child tests positive the Academy will additionally call you to discuss isolation and permission to come home.

If your child is in a bubble with a child that tests positive via LFD testing they will be sent home isolate for 10 days. If they develop symptoms you will need to book a PCR test in the community. Please keep school updated with any developments regarding your child’s health. If they are well, they will be expected to attend virtual lessons from home.
