Year 10 students join a mentoring scheme

Year 10 students have been taking part in a mentoring scheme delivered by Manchester Metropolitan University.

The scheme aims to motivate and inspire learners who have the potential to get good GCSE results and provides more information about what they can do when they have left school.

Current Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) students have been visiting the academy since March 2016 to mentor our students about different aspects of Higher Education and University.

The mentors have been focusing on providing our students with more information about the different options available to them and telling them about life at university.

There will be 10 sessions overall which will cover our students’ aspirations are for the future, what courses they could study, tuition fees for university and different aspects of student life.

Amy Barlow, Head of Careers, said:

“This scheme is progressing well. It is an excellent mentoring experience for our students, which will enable them to think more about their future and the opportunities available to them.”
