9X2 were the research subjects for our Year 12 A Level Psychology students today!
As part of their course, our students have been conducting psychology tests with groups from years 7, 8 and 9.
Atteager Johnson, Beth Johnson and Mollie Charlotte Haq have designed an experiment to ascertain whether levels of conformity increase when they present an ‘ally’ in a simple colour identification test.
Olivia Wallwork and Lucy Whyte’s research focuses on memory. They want to test the theory of psychologist Miller who says the average person can recall 7 (+ or – 2) when given a list of information. They showed test subjects from each year group a slideshow to research whether visualising objects can increase the number of memorised objects.
The Year 12 students will now collate and report their research for the course module.
Mrs Monks said: “The way in which the Year 12’s have conducted themselves during this research has surpassed my expectations; they have been professional and have worked incredibly hard in these last few weeks. They ought to be very proud of themselves. Similarly, the behaviour from the classes used as our ‘participants’ has been exemplary. A huge well done and thank you to all involved!”
