Starting in September 2026? - Year 6 Transition

Year 6 is an exciting time for many primary school children, but it can also be a daunting time as they start to think about transitioning into Year 7.  We have a programme of support and events that you and your child can engage with to support this process.

Our Transition Lead

We have a dedicated Transition Lead, Mrs Johnson, who will support you and your child every step of the way. Mrs Johnson has been the Transition and Community Lead at Salford City Academy for several years and previously worked as Head of Year 7.

If you have any questions about joining Salford City Academy or would like to book a tour of the school, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our Ask SCA form.

Primary Visits & Assemblies

From National Offer Day on Monday 2nd March, our Transition Lead will visit your child’s primary school on a regular basis, liaising with your child’s primary school teachers, to build a detailed understanding of the children who will be starting in September at SCA.  She will also attend assemblies and other primary school events so that she becomes a familiar, friendly face to your child.

Transition Days - June 2026

On 25th and 26th June, all children who have a place at Salford City Academy will attend our Transition Days.  On these days, your child will be officially inducted into Salford City Academy and take part in an exciting programme of events including curriculum workshops, sports activities, and house competitions!  They will get to meet some of their teachers, eat in the school canteen, and get to know the routines of the academy.

This two-day induction is an important part of your child’s transition into the academy, and we ask for your support in ensuring your child attends.

September Ready Presentation - July 2026

Parents of children starting in September will be invited to a Meet the Tutor Evening on Monday 13th July.  At this event, the Principal and senior leaders will share key information with you about the academy.

This has been added in due to the postponed Meet the Tutor evening. Parents/carers should have recieved an email with a link to book on to either a 4:00pm or 5:30pm slot.

Settling in Evening/Meet the Tutor - September 2026

On Friday 17th September parents/carers are invited in to a 'Setting in/Meet the Tutor Evening'.

Due to our postponed Meet the Tutor evening, this will be an opportunity to meet your child's tutor. Students will have been with us for about two weeks, and this will also be a chance for you to ask any questions that you may have.
