Extended Curriculum involves the many things that students choose to do beyond their academic lessons to enrich their personal wellbeing.
These enriching opportunities help to offer experience in those subjects and interests students have a passion for. They add value to students' learning by extending their depth of understanding. Clubs and societies allow young people to pursue new interests such as sports and sports teams, music, languages, competitions and The Duke of Edinburgh Award. We encourage all our students to access at least one enrichment session per week.
At the academy, there are over 50 enrichment sessions led by a mixture of staff and pupils with a passion for their activities – not including GCSE and BTEC catch-up and boosters. These sessions run either at lunch times or after school from 3-4pm. If your child has a sports fixture, they may be later home from school than usual especially if they are travelling to an away fixture, but you will receive communication via your child, usually in the form of a consent card.
We will listen to the activities you want to see! Feed this back via your student and subject councils or come and see Mrs Nolan, Extended Schools Co-ordinator.
