Key Stage 4

At Salford City Academy students begin Key Stage Four in Year 10.  It is the first time since starting the academy that our students have the opportunity to take control of a significant part of their curriculum as a result of the options that they select in Year 9.

At Key Stage Four, there are some subjects which are compulsory and will be studied by all students. These subjects are as follows.

In addition to the subject listed above, we are also proud to offer a wide range of subjects which students can opt to study as part of their Key Stage Four curriculum. At the Academy, we offer a diversity of courses at Key Stage Four including both GCSE and vocational qualifications. These subjects are listed below.

Each student’s curriculum is dependent upon the pathway they are allocated in Year 9 as part of the guided options process. Please click here to find out more information about the Year 9 guided options process.

It is our ambition that all students leave Salford City Academy with a broad range of good qualifications which empowers students to progress onto the next stage of their educational journeys and ultimately live happy and fulfilling lives. In order to support with this, students in Key Stage Four will receive a comprehensive careers education programme, including visits to colleges and universities, a work experience placement and personalised careers guidance interviews with our Careers Advisor.
