Excitement at Salford City Academy (SCA) today as Year 11 students celebrate an excellent set of GCSE results.

As a sign of the strength of the school, the students continue to improve compared to 2019. The improvement in academic results is a testament to our students’ hard work and dedication.

Some of the academy’s standout individual successes, who achieved a swathe of the top 8 and 9 grades, include:

  • Lucy, who achieved eight grade 9s and one grade 7. Lucy will be going to Pendleton College to study maths, biology and chemistry at A Level;

  • Thomas, who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 7s. Thomas will be going to Pendleton College to study maths, computer science, physics and further maths at A Level;

  • Ratnarajah, who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 6. Ratnarajah will be going on to study biology, chemistry and maths at A Level;

  • Callum, who achieved five grade 9s, one grade 7 and three grade 6s. Callum will be going to Pendleton College to study chemistry, maths, physics and further maths at A Level;

  • Dorota, who achieved three grade 9s, three grade 8s and three grade 7s. Dorota will be going to The Manchester College to study engineering at T Level.

Speaking about their success, Lucy said:

I can’t believe it, I never thought I’d get so good compared to my mocks, it’s just a massive improvement, and that was only a few months ago. I can’t believe I have done so well!”

Callum added:

I’m most pleased with my Sciences and Maths, which I got all 9’s in”.

Melanie Haselden, Principal at Salford City Academy, said:

We are all so proud of our GCSE students at SCA. What they have achieved today, particularly after the challenges all our young people have faced over the past few years, is nothing short of outstanding. With the support, guidance, and advice of our diligent staff at the academy, our students have been able to achieve these fantastic academic outcomes which will enable them to positively take their next steps in their education. Well done and congratulations to all celebrating today.

Katie Eaton, Associate Principal at Salford City Academy, said:

“Really pleased with what the students have achieved, and I’m delighted to see they able to go on to achieve their goals and move into their college place. Our students have shown great determination to succeed and demonstrated resilience throughout their GCSEs.”
