All students at Salford City Academy participate in the Enrichment programme which takes place either on or off the school site.  Enrichment builds on the learning that takes place in the classroom and gives students the chance to participate in activities they may not usually the have opportunity to do.  In some activities, students also have the chance to work towards and achieve additional qualifications.  Above all, the programme has been designed to challenge students and give them fun and enjoyable experiences.

As part of the Extended Schools offer, and strongly supported by the Sport Specialism, the Academy has a strong and varied extracurricular programme.  Two timetables of activities run side-by-side, one detailing sporting provision (e.g. football, netball, rounders, athletics, trampolining) and the other combining provision from the rest of school (e.g. friendship club, ‘mathletics' and homework clubs).

Whilst students must participate in some form of Enrichment activity, it is up to them which activity they pursue and they are regularly invited to express their view on the Enrichment programme and suggest new activities.  As well as a wide range of competitive sports clubs, Enrichment activities include: first aid, jewellery making, ‘Young Enterprise', ‘Young Volunteers', sign language, army boot camp, ‘Sow & Grow', horse riding, watersports and climbing.

"The enrichment programme is very good and adds significantly to students' experiences."
