Computing/ICT

A high quality Computing/ICT education equips pupils to understand and change the world through logical thinking and creativity including by making links with mathematics, science and design and technology. The core of Computing/ICT is computer science in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation and how digital systems work. Computing/ICT allows pupils to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of media. It also ensures that pupils become digitally literate, able to use, express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.

Key Stage 3

The core programme for Years 7 and 8 follows three strands of computing/ICT; these cover Digital Literacy, Computing and Information Technology.

They will be able to develop investigative, problem solving and programming skills in preparation to take this further in Year 10.

In Year 10, half the year group will continue with GCSE ICT while the other half will complete Citizenship. This will be rotated in Year 11.  GCSE Computing is available as an option.

For those in Year 11, ICT GCSE pupils will follow the WJEC course and Computing GCSE pupils will follow OCR computing course.
