Remote Learning – Working from home when isolating

There are likely to be 4 different ‘types’ of isolation. The type of isolation will depend on the individual case

(1). An individual student has to isolate (any year group)

(2). A group of students has to isolate in (any year group)

(3).  A single class has to isolate in Year 7, 8 or 9

(4). A whole year group has to isolate (any year group)

How to access work…

In all these isolation instances, students will be expected to continue with their work at home. Depending on the isolation type, some work will be through live lessons (see table below). All work will be set on MS TEAMS (on the Home Learning area of the school website there are instructions for how to download MS TEAMS).

The work will be located in the FILES section. The following steps show how to access the work.

Step 1: Students should log into their MS TEAMS account and select TEAMS.

Step 2: Subject TEAMS folders for all of a student’s subjects will appear (note – the labels will be slightly different to labels in the image below). Students should then select the subject that they want to see their work for (see green arrow). Every year group also has a year group team for assemblies and notices (see yellow arrow)

Step 3: When students have selected a subject they will see a screen like this (below). Students should select Files at the top of the screen (see green arrow) and the work for each subject will be the Files folder - in Class Materials

Teachers will provide work that follows the lessons taking place in the academy. Students should therefore also complete all of their homework assignments that are set each day (see red arrow above).

Students will also be notified if they have live lessons. This will be in isolation cases 2, 3 and 4. These live lessons will appear in their calendar (see yellow arrow above). On the Home Learning area of the school website there are instructions/videos for how to access live lessons.

In addition…

Whilst they are isolating students can also support their work in subjects by using the United Learning and Oak Academy lessons that have been created for learning at home. Students should use the link below to access these lessons. Knowledge Organisers are also extremely useful and can be used with the activities that are available on the website.

(1). Recorded Lessons: United Learning and the Oak National Academy

This link contains lessons in each subject that students can use. The topics link to the topics students are currently studying in the academy. Students should select the topic they are studying from within each subject area. . Students should use their school log in detail to access the lessons and select the Pupil Curriculum (green arrow) when accessing these lessons.

(2). Knowledge Organisers

On the Home Learning area of the website is a link to the knowledge organisers that are used in all subjects within the academy. Students can view their knowledge organisers for each subject and use the instructions and videos to learn about, and revise topics.

As well as lessons, students will also be able to access assemblies and tutor sessions. To do this they should follow the steps above and check their calendar and year group team daily for notices.
