Remote Learning

Remote Learning – Working from home when isolating

ISOLATION

There are likely to be 3 different ‘types’ of isolation. The type of isolation will depend on the individual case. If students are well enough to work at home they can follow their full timetable. All work will be set on MS TEAMS and details of how this work will be provided are shown below:

(1). An individual or small group of students has to isolate (any year group)

- Isolating students can take part in lessons remotely by attending lessons streamed from the academy

- In instances where this is not appropriate, work will be set on MS Assignments.

(2).  A single class has to isolate in Year 7, 8 or 9

- Students can follow their normal timetable remotely. All lessons will be provided on MS TEAMS as per student’s normal timetable.

(3). A whole year group has to isolate (any year group)

- Students can follow their normal timetable remotely. All lessons will be provided on MS TEAMS as per student’s normal timetable.

HOW TO ACCESS WORK

On the Home Learning area of the school website there are instructions/videos for how to access live lessons: https://www.salfordcity-academy.org/parents/coronavirus-information/home-learning

To access lessons in isolation instance (1) where individual students or small groups of students are isolating, students should be signed in to their MS TEAMS account ready for lessons starting at 9:20am. Students access their lessons by clicking on the links in their calendar (found where the green arrow is pointing) or by clicking on the links in the class teams for the subject that they have (see yellow arrow)

During these lessons students can complete the following:

(i). Record the subject, title and key words for the lesson on a Word document (or paper if students prefer)

(ii). Watch the lesson and use the chat function to communicate with the teacher

(iii).  Complete activities set by the teacher during the lesson

(iv).  Complete any homework set by the teacher

(v).  If accessing a remote live lesson is not appropriate e.g. a practical lesson in Technology, work will be set on MS Assignments and students will be directed to this work

To access lessons in isolation instances (2) and (3), where a whole class or whole year group is isolating, students should sign into their MS TEAMS account ready for registration/tutor period at 8:30am. Students should then follow the steps shown above for (1). Students can access these lessons through their MS TEAMS calendar (green arrow) and/or their class team (yellow arrow).

IN ADDITION

Whilst they are isolating students can also support their work in subjects by using the United Learning and Oak Academy lessons that have been created for learning at home. Students should use the link below to access these lessons. Knowledge Organisers are also extremely useful and can be used with the activities that are available on the website.

(1). Recorded Lessons: United Learning and the Oak National Academy

This link contains lessons in each subject that students can use. The topics link to the topics students are currently studying in the academy. Students should select the topic they are studying from within each subject area. https://curriculum.unitedlearning.org.uk/ . Students should use their school log in details to access the lessons and select the Pupil Curriculum (green arrow) when accessing these lessons.

(2). Knowledge Organisers

On the Home Learning area of the website is a link to the knowledge organisers that are used in all subjects within the academy. Students can view their knowledge organisers for each subject and use the instructions and videos to learn about, and revise topics. https://www.salfordcity-academy.org/covid-19-information/home-learning/knowledge-organiser
