Salford Youth Council Welcomes New Members

Published on 08 December 2014

Laura Edwards, a member of Salford Youth Council, visited the Academy on Friday 5th December to encourage students to join.

Laura e explained how the Salford Youth Council works and all the campaigns she is involved in.  The Council is composed of young people from across Salford with the aim of representing the youth of the city at every available opportunity.

Students also heard about the benefits of being part of the group and the impact they can have. Laura attends many conferences and also visits Parliament to join in debates.

The students voted on the issues they felt were most important at the moment.  They agreed that anti-bullying, mental health and curriculum for life were the issues they would like to raise for discussion and action in Parliament.

We are delighted that we already have a few members that have expressed an interest in joining the Salford Youth Council and will be getting in touch with Laura for more information.
