Salford City Academy Student Makes Football League Debut

Alex Doyle is future star in the making with a promising performance for Salford City FC, in his first game since the team won promotion.

One talented young former Salford City Academy student has recently made his debut for Salford City Football Club.

Alex Doyle, aged 18, took to the pitch last month for his first Football League game, after the team won promotion in the Vanarama National League Promotion Final in May.

A promising young football star, Alex has played in the Salford City FC first team on five other occasions – once as a substitute away at Leamington in a 4-0 win last April in the National League North, and four times in cup games last season.

His football training has sat alongside his studies at Salford City Academy, where he was an early star amongst his peers. After proving himself on the pitch, he was signed by Salford City FC.

Liam Morrison, Head of Physical Education taught Alex PE during his time at the academy, Liam is very proud of Alex’s progress in the game, he said:

“It is fantastic to see a former student making it in professional sport. Alex was a very talented footballer who stood out from day one. He always loved playing football, whether it be at lunch time, in PE lessons or representing the school. It shows that hard work and dedication really does pay off.”

Melanie Haselden, Principal at Salford City Academy, spoke of Alex’s achievements:

“We are delighted for Alex and incredibly proud to see him make his debut for Salford City Football Club. Our hope for all our students is that they go onto succeed and excel in their ambitions and he has been no exception – balancing his academic studies with his training regime over a number of years to get where he is today. We look forward to seeing him continue to pursue his talents on the pitch this season.”
