Academy celebrates Tim Peake’s space mission

It’s been a special day at the academy as Tim Peake, British astronaut, inspired our students to engage in his mission to space and to take part in the Space 2 Earth challenge.

As well as watching Tim’s launch into space live, all students were challenged to ‘travel’ the 400km distance from earth to space by running, biking and jumping in teams throughout the day.

Year 8 student Ester Boli, said:

“We can be really proud that a British astronaut, and one of us, has gone into space today!”

All subjects participated in the day with STEM inspired activities from alien cookies in Food Technology, space invaders game programming in ICT and writing applications for ‘Mission to Mars’ in English.

Head Girl and Year 11 student, Charlie Mechan, said:

“It’s been good for us to see there’s a bigger world out there and people’s dreams can come true.”
