History of Medicine

University of Manchester and Manchester Museum event

A group of gifted and talented students in Science attended the Inspiring Futures event at the University of Manchester on 10th December.

The day was all about inspiring careers in healthcare and our Year 8 and 9 students learnt all about the history of medicine and health care.

As well as hearing from university historians and doctors, students visited the Manchester Museum for interactive workshops about medicine through the ages, medical careers and Medical Objects and their histories.

Students came together at the end of the day to tackle one final bioengineering challenge – to repair broken bones with a selection of adhesives and repair materials, which were tested using mini tensile testing apparatus! Well done to our team who came fourth out of 12 schools.
