Primary pupils join the academy for Maths festivals

Beech Street primary school children attended Salford City Academy’s Maths department on Wednesday 22nd March.

The event was part of a series of primary Maths festivals, which invited Year 5 primary children from local schools to visit the academy.

Maths teachers, Mr Owen and Mr Gibbs delivered Year 7 lessons on probability and expressing probability as fractions before moving on to more challenging KS3 maths problems.

Academy students were on hand to assist the pupils and answer any questions about life at secondary school.

Mr Owen said:

“The children were engaged and eager to learn. They enjoyed getting a taste of high school and seeing a typical classroom; they were particularly excited about changing rooms and teachers between lessons!”
