Rainy Ramsbottom!

Duke of Edinburgh students enjoy their training

Year 10 students put their best foot forward in their Duke of Edinburgh training, although that did involve stepping in an awful lot of puddles on their overnight trip to Ramsbottom on the 19th May!

The students arrived at camp and learned camp craft skills including cooking outdoors and how to look after equipment in adverse conditions. The next morning, they packed up their sodden equipment in the rain and navigated across 10 miles of boggy terrain - although one group were unfortunate enough to cover 12.4 miles due to still having to get to grips with their map reading skills!

The students endured some really tough conditions and came through still smiling at the end. They showed great resilience and determination.

A special mention goes to Morgan Burtwhistle who soldiered on despite a slight ankle injury. This effort leaves me with no doubt that they are now ready to be assessed on their final expedition in Bakewell on the 30th June and I am sure they will be superb as they were this weekend!

Well done Year 10 DofE!
