Salford City Academy Shines At Open Evening

SCA welcomed primary school students and their families into school for an action-packed Open Evening.

Visitors braved a torrential downpour on the night to come and find out more about what Salford City Academy has to offer for students who will be moving up to Year 7 in September 2019, and our student leaders did a brilliant job as tour guides to show them around.

A wide range of activities were organised across every department in school, including Medieval guess who in History, tapas tasting in MFL, a technical drawing workshop in Construction and the chance to play ukuleles and African drums in Music. In the library, primary students were given new reading books that were generously donated by Book Trust after taking part in literacy-based challenges.

Elsewhere, our Science team put on a great show with a series of interactive challenges and demonstrations that left their audience seriously impressed.

Halfway through the night, everyone made their way to the Main Hall to hear from SCA Principal Ms Haselden, before continuing on their tours around the school.

Mrs Yu, who attended with her daughter Maggie from Fiddlers Lane Primary, said: “We really enjoyed our visit. The staff and students were kind, informative and welcoming.” Mrs Dickins, who came with her son Kaden, added: “The school had so much to offer and I am really excited for my son to attend.”

Principal Ms Haselden said: “We always look forward to Open Evening and it was wonderful to meet members of the local community. There is so much going on here at SCA and it’s a fantastic feeling to be able to share that with prospective students and their families who could be coming here in September 2019.”
