Salford City Academy Young Carers Wow At The Lowry

We celebrated Young Carers Day earlier this week – culminating in a memorable appearance at the Lowry Theatre.

During the day, tutor groups watched a presentation created by the Young Carers Organisation to raise awareness of exactly what a Young Carer is and what challenges they might face on a daily basis. Meanwhile, all Young Carers were given a free lunch as they celebrated with a party.

In the evening, three of our students attended a Young Carers event organised by YAC Salford Carers at the Lowry Theatre along with Ms Wright. Year 9 student Leah Warburton provided one of the highlights of the night by performing two of her own poems to the audience, before the group met the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford Cllr Peter Connor, who was suitably impressed!

Ms Wright said: “All of our Young Carers are such a credit to our school and I was extremely proud of those who attended the YAC event at the Lowry.

“Young Carers Day is so important in recognising the day-to-day achievements of this inspirational group of people and we are proud to do everything we can in supporting them to fulfil their potential.”
