Year 5 Students Enjoy A Taste Of Life At SCA
/ Categories: News
Primary school students from across the area have been sampling secondary school life at Salford City Academy during a series of transition events here.
Over the course of three days, students from Barton Moss, Christ Church, Lewis Street, Godfrey Ermen, Beech Street and St Andrews’ Primaries have been spending the day at SCA, learning all about the step up to high school and what they can expect when they become Year 7 students in just over a year’s time.
Students had the opportunity to try out a wide range of lessons, including English, Maths, Science, ICT, Technology, Drama and PE.
In Science, students had a go at several experiments using bunson burners in our Science Labs, while in Cookery they made a delicious pasta salad. Another highlight was during their PE tasters, where students were put into teams mixed up from all the different schools to compete in Rounders, Dodgeball and Cricket.
Meanwhile the food in our canteen received rave reviews as the groups enjoyed their lunch, and the day finished with a celebration assembly, which parents were invited to attend. Every day, the winner of our ‘Outstanding Student Award’ was presented with paintballing tickets for them and their friends to use over the Summer Holidays.
Head of Year 7 Mrs Jones said: “It’s been a brilliant few days welcoming so many students into SCA and it’s been amazing to hear they’ve had such a great time with us. They have behaved excellently and we have no doubt they will love it when the time comes for them to step up to high school. We can’t wait to see them again at our Open Evening on 20th September.”
