GCSE Results Day 2024

Students here at Salford City Academy were full of excitement on August 22nd, after receiving their GCSE results.

Across Year 11, more than two-thirds of the students achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, while 44% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in the two core subjects.

Salford City Academy Launch Careers Partnership with ITV!

Through the exciting platform, our students will be able to explore the multiple career opportunities available to them, both at ITV and across the creative industries. The programme provides a way for us to collaborate with creative partners and businesses local to us and give our students access to 1:1 mentoring programmes, workplace visits and other creative initiatives.

Salford City Academy Students Make GCSE Progress Above Regional and National Levels

~ Validated league tables from the Department for Education confirm above average student progress for Salford City Academy students ~ 

~ School secures its highest progress score in 2022 ~ 

Salford City Academy has reinforced its success at GCSE this summer with validated progress scores.

The scores come as part of the Department for Education’s validated GCSE league tables released today. This national data shows schools’ performance on the government’s Progress 8 measure, which calculates the average progress students make by GCSE, compared with other similar schools. A progress score that meets the national average is set at 0 each year, with anything higher reflecting value added to a student’s achievements during their time at school.

Salford City Academy Students Launch Park & Stride

Pupils from Barton Moss Primary School and Salford City Academy were joined by special guests on 5th December at the launch of a new 'Park and Stride' scheme. It's part of a series of improvements to make the walk to school safer and more enjoyable.

The changes have come about after Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking worked with pupils from Barton Moss Primary School to assess the local streets to see what improvements could be made to make it easier for them to walk to school.

World Book Day March 2022

Teachers were excited to finally celebrate World Book Day in person, they have dusted off their best fancy dress to show students that they 'Are a Reader' and promote the love of reading once again in the academy.

Students share reviews for Silver Arts Award

Students in Year 10 are working hard to achieve their Art Award visiting galleries around Salford and Manchester. In order to achieve their Silver award students have been asked to review their experiences and share this with others. Salford City Academy Awarded School Games Mark - Gold Award!

We are delighted to announce that we, Salford City Academy, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.   The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Young Artists Thrive At Salford City Academy

62 students are working towards the Arts Award, a programme funded by Arts Council England. Students immersing themselves in arts and culture as part of the academy’s Aspire initiative. Aspire is part of how the academy seeks to offer an ‘education with character’.
