Students get the opportunity to perform Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute on the renowned stage of the Bridgewater Hall
On Monday 30th June, our Excellence in Music students enjoyed the extraordinary opportunity to perform Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute, on the renowned stage of the Bridgewater Hall.
Their performance is part of a project delivered by United Learning, in partnership with the Royal Opera House. The aim is to introduce young people to the world of opera. Over the past few months, pupils have been working hard to be able to showcase their talents, creativity and confidence on the iconic stage through their performance of the famous opera.
In the lead up to the performance, students were lucky enough to participate in workshops with professional opera singers and artists from the Royal Opera House, giving them exciting experience in musical and dramatic performance.
Speaking about the project, Maisy Olivieri, a Year 9 student and part of our Excellence in Music programme said:
‘It’s great to get the chance to perform at brilliant places like Bridgewater Hall. Hopefully one day I’ll be performing here as a professional musician.’
Jo Parkinson, Music teacher at Salford City Academy, said:
‘This is an incredible experience for our students. To perform at such a prestigious venue with so many other students and professionals is an amazing opportunity that I’m sure our students will remember forever.’
