Salford City Academy Construction Students Building A Plan For The Future

Salford City Academy students have been helped onto the first rung of the careers ladder in the construction sector following a visit to a local development company.

A group of 13 students spent time with Whitfield and Brown at their construction site in Sale. The students spent time with professionals who explained their role and how they contribute to a project, before enjoying a presentation about the different areas within the industry.

Whitfield and Brown have offered to support SCA as a dedicated careers and enterprise adviser – with plans afoot to make further visits to the academy and give young people the knowledge, confidence and resilience to move from full-time education into the world of work.

Construction Teacher Mr Owen said: “This was an excellent opportunity for our students to witness what they have been learning about in the classroom in real life and we would like to thank Whitfield and Brown for welcoming us.

“The students were really engaged with everything they found out on the day and it is exciting to think that this could be the first step for these individuals for a career in the construction industry.”
