At Salford City Academy we are committed to providing an outstanding education for every child in our care.  Students are taught in classes of similar abilities, studying a wide range of subjects.

Curriculum at Key Stage 3

The Key Stage 3 Curriculum is broad and covers a variety of different subject areas.  All statutory requirements are met.  We place a particular importance on English, mathematics and science with approximately 50% of a student’s timetable given to these subjects.  This allows students to develop crucial skills they will need for when they start their GCSE options at Key Stage 4.

The Key Stage 3 Curriculum is enhanced by a varied enrichment programme which allows students to participate in a range of sporting, cultural and educational activities throughout the year.

For selected students we offer extra literacy and numeracy intervention enabling students to improve their reading age over the course of the programme.

Curriculum at Key Stage 4

The Key Stage 4 Curriculum builds on the skills acquired during Key Stage 3.  Students begin their GCSE options in Year 10 and are able to choose from a wide range of academic subjects supplemented by high quality and recognised vocational subjects.  Information, advice and guidance is given to students at each stage of the options process to ensure every students is following courses that are appropriate to their interests, aspirations and abilities.
