Mental Health and Wellbeing at Salford City Academy

At Salford City Academy, we care deeply about our students’ mental health and emotional wellbeing.

We know that many young people face challenges with their mental health. Sometimes, these problems can be hard to see or talk about, and not everyone gets the help they need. That’s why we believe it’s important to support students in every way we can — both inside and outside the classroom.

We take a whole-school approach to mental health. This means everyone in school — teachers, staff, students, and families — works together to create a safe, caring and supportive place to learn.

We also work with other organisations and experts to give extra help to students who need more support with their mental health.

• We help all students build confidence, manage their emotions, and look after their own wellbeing
• We offer extra support for students who may be struggling
• We involve parents and carers, because we know your role is important too
• We make sure wellbeing is part of everyday life at school

We also have a team of trained students called Wellbeing Ambassadors. These students help promote mental health and are there to support and listen to others.

They:

• Share information about mental health events in school
• Help run assemblies on World Mental Health Day and Mental Health Week
• Work with staff to plan school-wide activities and fundraising
• Talk to school leaders about how we can make SCA an even more supportive place for all
