Homework and Online Learning

At Salford City Academy, we believe that independent learning encourages the development of personal skills and allows students to take more ownership of their education. 

Rewards are given for outstanding pieces of homework, and we encourage all parents to track their child's completion of homework on their Sparx platform. All Sparx homework will be set and is due in on Wednesday each week. 

KS3 Homework expectations

These tasks are all set on Sparx and can be accessed using the same Microsoft login details, making it simple for students and families to manage homework in one place - Sparx Learning. 

Revision homework will also be set around assessments for all subjects that have an assessment during Mid-Year and End of Year Exams.

Sparx Maths 

Sparx Maths has been proven by the University of Cambridge to boost grades significantly. On the Sparx Maths website there is a section for parents outlining how you can help your child with their Maths homework and how the programme works. Click here for more information.

KS3 Homework expectations

KS4 Homework expectations

Homework is set weekly in all subjects for students in KS4. This will be recorded on Arbor as an assignment - parents/carers can track completion on the Arbor app. Students are also directed to record their homework tasks in their planner. This will be a mixture of online and paper-based homework- Sparx will continue to be used for Maths and English.

All KS4 students have been provided with a free GCSE revision guide linked directly to their course specification. These guides form a key part of our KS4 homework programme.

Students are expected to use their revision guides regularly at home to review learning from lessons, practice key content, and close any gaps in understanding. Regular retrieval and revision helps to secure knowledge in long-term memory, improving confidence, progress, and GCSE outcomes.
