Young Carers

Support for Young Carers at Salford City Academy

At Salford City Academy, we care about more than just academic progress, behaviour, and attendance. We also recognise the impact of family and community circumstances on our students' lives.

Some children take on responsibilities at home, such as:

  • Caring for a family member
  • Helping with chores
  • Cooking, cleaning, or shopping
  • Supporting someone with daily needs

If this sounds like you, you may be a Young Carer. It’s a big responsibility, and it can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. Many students face similar challenges, and we’re here to help.

We work with Salford’s Young Carer Organisation at The Gaddum Centre, and we’re setting up a Young Carers Hub in school - a weekly space to meet, share experiences, and find support. If group settings aren’t for you, Mrs Jones is your point of contact and support.

Take care and stay safe.
