Train to Teach at SCA

We are seeking aspiring teachers eager to pursue their teaching qualifications. Salford City Academy offers a school-based teacher training programme delivered by United Teaching, an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ national teacher training provider.

Our one-year training programme commences with a ten-day summer institute – a hybrid induction delivered face-to-face at one of our regional training centres and via remote learning. It equips trainees with the fundamental skills necessary to start their teaching journey.

The academic year is spent at Salford City Academy, where trainees are immersed in the classroom from day one. Weekly training sessions, delivered by United Teaching leaders, are conducted on Fridays.

We offer salaried routes that provide a salary of up to £21,933 in addition to fully covering your tuition fees for a QTS and PGCE. Alternatively, you can go for a self-funded route with the opportunity to access generous bursaries.

QUOTE TEXT

I joined SCA in 2019 through United Teaching. Having my own classes from my first day gave me a real sense of responsibility and allowed me to develop positive relationships with my students. I felt that the United Teaching programme allowed me to experience what it is like to be a fully-qualified teacher whilst also receiving frequent guidance from my mentor who was incredibly supportive and experienced.

I followed a timetable which gradually built towards that of a fully-qualified teacher and this prepared me for my ECT1 year where I kept many of the same classes. I have now been at SCA for 6 years and am currently one of two Second in English.
