Salford City Academy Community Hub

Helping Families and the Community in Brookhouse and Eccles

Welcome to the Salford City Academy Community Hub!

The Salford City Academy Community Hub started in November 2024. We want to help our local community grow, stay strong, and feel supported.

Our Hub offers different types of support, fun events, and activities for everyone. Some happen in the school, and others take place in local community spaces. Even though the Hub is based at Salford City Academy, it's not just for students — it’s for everyone in the community, no matter what your age.

We believe that communities are stronger when people work together. That’s what our Hub is all about.

We’re here to build positive relationships and help people make good things happen in their area - things that matter to them.

Our Aims

  • Help our local community lead healthier, happier and better-connected lives.
  • Reduce isolation among our parents/carers and the wider community.
  • Offer a safe and supportive environment, in which local residents can thrive.
  • Promote change driven by both the school and the community.
  • Provide opportunities for community members to get involved, participate, volunteer, learn, and develop their skills and talents.
  • To improve social community cohesion.

Sarah has worked at Salford City Academy for several years and through her work with local primary schools and community groups knows Brookhouse and the local area well.  She is a friendly face out in the community and can be found on the first Tuesday of each month at 10.30am outside ‘The Sandwich Shop’ on the Brookhouse Estate for ‘Community Conversations’!

If you have an idea, want to get involved, or simply want to share your stories about the community, join her for a chat.

Our community gardening project, Brookhouse in Bloom,  aims to improve and brighten the outdoor spaces in the local community!

If you love planting and would like to be involved, we are looking for volunteers to join our planting sessions.  There is no need to book, simply turn up!

Check out this webpage for the forthcoming dates or join our Facebook group.

Rapid Relief Team Food Boxes

As part of our ongoing commitment to the Eccles community, Salford City Academy is proud to partner with the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) to deliver essential food boxes to families in need.

Through the school’s Community Hub, these food boxes—packed with a generous selection of staple items—are made available to anyone in the local area who may be struggling. They can be collected discreetly from the school reception between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, with no questions asked.

New deliveries are announced on the Salford City Academy – Community Hub Facebook page, ensuring the community stays informed and can access support as needed.

Community Wellbeing

Every month, we have committed to providing our community with an event or activity to improve health and wellbeing.

Recent events have included:

  • Community Sound Bath – Listen to relaxing music and vibrations for a truly soothing and meditative experience.
  • Games Night – A chance to come together and enjoy a fun evening of games!
  • Cooking Classes – Our Christmas cooking classes brought some delicious festive cheer, and participants learnt new skills just in time for Christmas!

Health & Fitness

We are also committed to helping our community get fit!  We are building partnerships with a number of organisations to bring a range of sports and fitness opportunities to our students and the local community:

  • SCA Rugby Academy in Partnership with Eccles RFU – Together with Eccles RFU we are excited to launch our very own rugby academy for our students.
  • Manchester Gymnastics Academy – Initially, this opportunity is open to our students only but from September 2025, gymnastics classes will be available for all young people in our local community!
