Aspire Clubs
Starting in September 2025, if you are in Years 7 – 9, you will taker part in an enrichment session once each fortnight. This will take place on a Wednesday during period 5. There are a range of activities to choose from, we encourage you to pick something that you have never tried before! You will take part in your chosen activity for the whole term, after which you will have a chance to pick a completely new activity.
We will still be offering clubs during lunch time and after school (3pm – 4pm), if you choose. If you are part of a sports team, training will also take place after school on a designated day.
House System
We have four houses at SCA, each representing the four elements. Ignis (Fire), Aqua (Water), Terra (Earth), and Aero (Air).
You will be allocated a house, which you share with your entire form group. There are several ways you can earn points for your house! Teachers may award you house points for good behaviour, showing kindness to others or for excellent work in lessons. You can also win house points in our exciting house competitions, which are held once per half-term during lunch time. On Sports Day, you will be competing to earn points for your house. At the end of the year the house with the most points will lift the trophy, could it be your house…?
Student Leadership
There are so many opportunities to get involved in school life and make a difference. Become a Wellbeing Ambassador, join our Student Council, become a Prefect, or even try out for Head Boy or Head Girl! If you join the Student Council you will be awarded a special silver tie, while Prefects get to wear golden ties.
Joining a student leadership team is a huge honour, and you should wear your badges and coloured ties with pride! These teams are brilliant opportunities to develop your confidence and leadership skills, all while helping to improve the school and represent the student voice.
Careers
Our Step Beyond programme is designed to make sure you feel confident and prepared for life after school. The programme runs from when you start in Year 7 right through to Year 11 and involves trips out to Universities and Colleges, dedicated careers lessons, workshops with our many partners, guidance from the Careers Advisor, work experience and much more!
You will have access to Unifrog, a careers platform where you can access careers and subject libraries, explore your interests, find new opportunities and get support with college and apprenticeship applications – just to name a few!
One of the most exciting opportunities you will get as a student at SCA is access to our partnership with Upriser and ITV. Through this partnership you will get access to apprenticeship panels, speed networking events with ITV colleagues, creative enrichment days, ITV office tours in MediaCity, and work experience and employability workshops. You will get the opportunity to meet a range of people from ITV and learn from the very best!
Character and Rewards
Alongside your education, we are committed to providing you with exciting and enriching experiences, from trips out to celebrating important days within the Academy. From World Book Day to Lunar New Year – we ensure that you will have an opportunity to learn about new cultures and celebrate important events.
Once each term, we hold an Aspire Day, on this day you will be off your regular timetable and will instead spend the day taking part in a range of exciting activities and workshops. Each year group in the school will focus on a different theme, from exploring diversity through music to learning new ways to stay happy and healthy!
At SCA we ask that you work hard, show respect and demonstrate our values. In return, we will make sure you are rewarded for all your efforts! The last week of term is our ‘rewards week’, where you will be able to take part in several fun activities if you have followed the SCA Way consistently.
Every Friday we host the ‘Proud Table’ during lunchtime, where you can bring your House Leader a piece of work that you are proud of from that week, and they will reward you with a treat of your choice and house points. This is a time to celebrate your hard work throughout the week!
