The Pioneer Scholars Programme is a bespoke curriculum pathway designed for students with exceptional academic potential and a passion for learning.

For September 2027, the programme has expanded and includes an exciting Academic Scholars element. Students on the Pioneer Scholars programme will benefit from high quality STEM and enhanced academic programmes.

STEM Pioneers

Students follow a faster-paced and more focused curriculum in Maths, Science and Technology, while still learning everything in the full national curriculum. They’ll also join in STEM events, trips and talks, take part in a weekly after-school enrichment sessions and work on exciting real-world projects.

Year 7: STEM on Track

Weekly STEM enrichment and national competition entry
Design, build and race a petrol-powered go-kart
Develop engineering, problem-solving and teamwork skills

Year 8: Future Scientists & Leaders

STEM Leadership Qualification and primary school mentoring
Environmental science projects and real-world investigations
Explore careers in medicine, healthcare and STEM

Year 9: More than Robotics

Design, build and programme robots
Develop coding, computational thinking and engineering skills
Robotics competitions, plus CREST and Industrial Cadets awards

Academic Scholars

New for September 2027, our Pioneer Programme is evolving into the Pioneer Scholars Programme, expanding beyond STEM to include English, Humanities and Creative Arts.

Designed for ambitious students with strong academic potential, the programme offers an enhanced curriculum, university visits, guest lectures and academic competitions.

Accelerated curriculum in English, Humanities and Creative Arts
Preparation for Russell Group and leading universities
University visits, lectures and academic competitions
Develops resilience, independence and study skills
