Citizenship at Salford City Academy gives pupils an understanding of what their rights and responsibilities are as citizens. They gain the skills and opportunities to have their voices heard within school, their communities and in society at large. In addition, we are also offering PSHE (Personal, Social Health Education) modules each full term in order to give students the chance to learn and discover more about their own personal and physical wellbeing and safety.

Through both subjects (Citizenship and PSHE) students are able to make a positive contribution to society and prepare themselves for the challenges and opportunities of adult and working life. It also helps students to develop self-confidence and successfully deal with significant life changes and challenges such as bullying and discrimination.

They will also develop skills and aptitudes such as critical thinking, analysing information, expressing opinions, taking part in discussions and debates, negotiating, conflict resolution and participating in community action.
