Mathieu has recently joined the Rivington and Adlington Brass Band, as part of their percussion team. Alongside this, he is continuing to develop his musical talents through drum and piano lessons, as well as performing with the school brass group.

On 1st March, Mathieu competed with the Rivington and Adlington Brass Band in the 2nd Section, North West Area Regional Brass Band Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. The band played a Philip Harper piece titled '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' achieving an impressive 5th place out of 19 bands, just narrowly missing out on qualification for the national finals later this year.

More recently, at the band’s awards evening, Mathieu was recognised for his hard work and dedication, receiving the awards for 'Most Improved Player' and was also voted as 'Players Player!' by other members of the band.
