Two of our Year 10 students proudly represented both Salford City Academy and the Rivington and Adlington Brass Band at the famous Whit Friday Brass Band Marches in Saddleworth, performing in front of thousands of spectators during one of the UK's most celebrated musical traditions.
Last month, two of our Year 10 students, Mathieu and Hasan, took part in the annual Whit Friday Brass Band Marches in Saddleworth, an event often described as the "Greatest Free Show on Earth."
Representing the Rivington and Adlington Brass Band, as well as Salford City Academy, both students demonstrated outstanding commitment, musicianship and community spirit throughout the evening.
Mathieu, who is also our Deputy Head Boy, played an important role on the bass drum, helping to lead the band as they marched between contest venues. Meanwhile, our Head Boy, Hasan performed as part of the cornet section, contributing to the band's musical performances at each stage of the competition.
Throughout the evening, the band travelled between a number of villages across Saddleworth, performing in front of large crowds and taking part in a tradition that has been enjoyed by generations of brass band enthusiasts. The Whit Friday marches offer a unique musical experience, with thousands of spectators lining the streets to cheer on and welcome every band that takes part.
We are incredibly proud of Mathieu and Hasan for embracing this fantastic opportunity and for representing both their band and our school with such enthusiasm and pride. Their participation highlights the dedication, teamwork and talent that we value at Salford City Academy.
