On Tuesday 27th January, our Year 9 band 'BROASIS' proudly represented the Academy at the MAPAS Battle of the Bands held at Future Skills Media City UK.

The event included school bands from across Salford, giving students the opportunity to perform on a professional stage in front of a judging panel made up of MAPAS and Future Skills tutors for the chance to perform at Band on the Wall in Manchester. Although BROASIS did not take home the top prize, they delivered a confident and energetic performance that impressed both staff and their families and friends!

Broasis have been rehearsing regularly during lunchtimes, Friday after school on Band Night, and in their timetabled enrichment time, showing real commitment to developing their musical skills.

The band is made up of Bobby (vocals), Bradley (guitar), Lola (guitar), Evie (bass), and Grayson (drums).

Head of Expressive Arts, Mrs Jewitt said:

“They were well-supported by their families who all enjoyed the gig. They played fantastically and conducted themselves exceptionally in this professional setting, showing their support for all the other bands too. It will have been a great experience for them to meet and play alongside other young musicians.”
