Homework and Online Learning

At Salford City Academy, we believe that independent learning encourages the development of personal skills and allows students to take more ownership of their education. 

Rewards are given for outstanding pieces of homework, and we encourage all parents to track their child's completion of homework on their Sparx platform. All Sparx homework will be set and is due in on Wednesday each week. 

Sparx Maths

Sparx Maths has been proven by the University of Cambridge to boost grades significantly. On the Sparx Maths website there is a section for parents outlining how you can help your child with their Maths homework and how the programme works.

Sparx Science - Home

Each week, you will receive an email from Sparx centrally that tells you about the Maths, English and Science homework.

Revision homework will also be set around assessments for all subjects that have an assessment during Mid-Year and End of Year Exams.

Homework is set weekly in all subjects for students in KS4. This will be recorded on Arbor as an assignment - parents/carers can track completion on the Arbor app. Students are also directed to record their homework tasks in their planner.

This will be a mixture of online and paper-based homework- Sparx will continue to be used for Maths and English.

The expectation in Year 10 is that students complete a minimum of 1-hour of independent study each evening. In Year 11, this expectation increases to 2-hours of independent study each evening.
