Choosing GCSE options can feel like a daunting process, so we try and do all we can to help students make the right choices for them so that they can develop the skills, knowledge, and qualities that will allow them to make successful choices for their future educational and career pathways.
In preparation for choosing their options, Year 9 students participate in a range Careers, Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG) activities designed to ensure they can make informed choices about their future career pathways.
Year 9 students should gather as much information as possible about the different options available and discuss their thoughts with their parents/carers, tutors, and subject teachers.
As we approach the time of year when students will select their options, we provide a range of support and information including through assemblies, tutor time careers lessons and taster lessons for many of the subjects on offer. We also offer bespoke support for those students who are uncertain about their choices. Our Year 9 Options Information Evening and Parents/Carers Evening both provide an opportunity for parents/carers to speak to subject specialists regarding their child’s next steps.
